Preparation
You do not just show up to 100 hours of isolation.
The 12-Month Ramp
Training for the Meditation World Cup requires periodization, much like training for an ultramarathon or Olympic weightlifting. Competitors cycle through phases of volume (long sits), intensity (high-stress exposure), and recovery.
Phase 1: Base Building (Months 1-4)
Focuses on expanding the "sitting capacity" without structural pain. Competitors build up to 6-hour continuous blocks. Posture mechanics, core strength, and hip mobility are prioritized over depth of state.
Phase 2: Stress Inoculation (Months 5-8)
Competitors introduce physiological stressors to train autonomic regulation. Ice baths, sauna exposure, and sleep deprivation are combined with meditation blocks. The goal is to learn how to force the body back into a parasympathetic state when every instinct is screaming fight-or-flight.
Phase 3: The Taper (Months 9-12)
Simulation blocks. 24-hour and 48-hour dry runs using consumer-grade EEG (like the Muse or Emotiv) to track data. Competitors refine their 15-minute recovery window protocols—dialing in exact nutrition (usually liquid, high-fat/low-carb to maintain stable blood sugar) and micro-sleep strategies.
